Montessori Children’s House is the
original and only so named school initially established in
1976 in the Bird Road area to meet the goals of Montessori education for
preschool children. Due to its enormous growth, the school has since
expanded and relocated in 1996 to the Crossings area in the West Kendall
community.
The school is licensed as an
Educational Institution through Miami Dade County and the State of
Florida and is accredited through the Pan American Montessori Society (PAMS).
Montessori Children’s House is open all
year round. The school year
runs from August to May with two optional monthly summer sessions
available during the months of June and July.
Our 4,000 square foot school has two large
Preschool/Kindergarten classrooms, one Toddler classroom, six individual
child sized bathrooms, an office and a large fully equipped kitchen.
Our safe, fully
enclosed huge playground provides the children with three large separate
climbing gyms/swing sets, a rocking school bus for role playing,
individual spring rockers, and playhouses. Additionally, a basketball
area, cold water drinking fountain, benches throughout the playground,
covered lunch area, and plenty of trees providing an abundance of shade
meet all of the children's needs.
The arrival and dismissal area in the rear
of the school adjacent to the playground is comprised of a secure
covered, completely enclosed seating area for the students to safely
wait for their parents. The playground and/or rear awning area of the
school is periodically fenced off and used for visiting events: bounce
houses, ponies, petting zoo, wild animal presentations, police and fire
safety events, snow day, race cars, yearly carnival with rides, etc.
There are three extra-large awnings
offering protection during inclement weather for the parents to drive
under to safely drop off and pick up their children on a daily basis.
Additionally, the school has operating an exterior, fully monitored
video surveillance system offering additional on site security.
