The Toddler classroom
serves as an introduction to the Montessori methods and materials. The
children are introduced to lessons in phonics, sensorial perception,
counting and practical life. There is a model kitchen for role playing
and a quiet area for the students to relax and reflect.
The Preschool/Kindergarten classrooms are
fully equipped Montessori environments consisting of four primary areas
- Practical Life, Sensorial Life, Mathematics, and Language Arts.
Emphasis is placed on developing a strong phonics background, correct
grammatical structure and vocabulary development.
A multi-series of
readers with corresponding workbooks are utilized to enhance developing
reading and comprehension skills. There are also diversified areas
specializing in Pre-Montessori materials, Geography, Botany, Art,
Computers and a Library.
Montessori
Children’s House’s classrooms offer an aesthetically unique environment
diverse from other Montessori schools. The rooms are filled with a
multitude of original custom made, quality wooden furnishings such as
tables and chairs, rocking horses/chairs, benches, puzzles, lessons and
room decorations.
There are elevated
wooden lofts in both of the Preschool/Kindergarten classrooms offering
the children a quiet area to read and enjoy the listening station with a computer area
accessible underneath. The classrooms are warm and inviting in an
endeavor to make the children feel as if they were in their own home.
The attractive
Montessori teaching materials allow the children to explore each subject
at their own pace and style. In a Montessori setting, there is a space
for personal, small group and whole class learning activities. The
Montessori environment teaches the child a respect for oneself, other
people and the environment.
The teachers employ
strategies to facilitate the unique and total growth of each individual
child. The staff works toward a combined relationship with the parents,
children and their teachers.
